What is a warmline?

Warmlines are used to access non-emergency assistance. In case of an emergency, dial 9-8-8 for mental health related support or 9-1-1 and ask for a Crisis Intervention Trained officer or a Mental Health CoResponder, if available.

The Stepping Up initiative does not provide direct services or legal services for people with behavioral health needs who have been in contact with the criminal justice system.

This guide from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) could be helpful for pointing you toward resources, and joining your local NAMI affiliate is another way to access more local resources, including family support groups.

If you are seeking legal services, we recommend contacting legal aid in your local jurisdiction for advice. The easiest way to find this information is to type “Legal aid + [your county and state]” into a search engine.
